The convention will be March 31- April 2, 2022 for our 38th year. Venue will be the usual place … Ramada South Bend, 52890 State Road 933 N, South Bend IN 46637. 574-272-6685.<br />We are back to April after a very successful convention last August. I'll soon post additional information here as well as updates on sevenyearswarassn.org and Seven Years War Convention on Facebook. If you are not on our email list (which I will also use to send out some updates), please let me know at kbunger@cox.net. We are always interested in new dealers and gamemasters. Alex Burns will send out the information sheet for gamemasters soon, after we confirm some table sizes with the hotel. So, since Cold Wars is now cancelled for the same weekend, just drive a couple states east and join us in Indiana! |

Don't you mean drive a couple of states to the west, from the east coast to Indiana? Jim |
dbf1676 | 23 Dec 2021 3:45 p.m. PST |
Yes. If you live in Pennsylvania, there is only Ohio between you and Indiana! Seriously, though, it's a great convention. If you have already blocked out the days on your schedule for Cold Wars, this is a great alternative. I live on the east coast and go every year. |

I'll try to make it again this year. |

I would like to know the parameters of the "Seven Years War" convention, in terms of what is included. A friend told me there was an American Revolution game. Not 7 Years War. Is it anything 1700 to 1799? |
epturner | 24 Dec 2021 8:23 a.m. PST |
Bobgnar; In the video from the convention this year, it was stated pretty much anything from 1740 to 1789 was grist for the proverbial mill. Eric |
dbf1676 | 24 Dec 2021 10:40 a.m. PST |
Anything from 1700 through the AWI is certainly ok. Sometimes a little befor of after. |

The 18th century is fair game (no pun intended). |

It is pre-SYW Con season already, which of course it always is. The 38th Annual SYW Convention will be held March 31- April 2, 2022 at our regular venue… The South Bend Ramada, 52890 State Road 933 North, South bend, IN 46637. (574)272-5220. The August convention was very (and thankfully financially) successful. I thought we broke 100 attendees, but upon examination of the attendee sign-in list, two guys signed on two successive days, so we had 99. All the more reason to break 100 this spring. We had 36 dealer tables, or a table for every three attendees (an interesting business model), but all seemed to be very pleased. Thanks to Alex Burns for scheduling (shepherding cats) our games and to Ed Phillips for manning the front desk. But really thanks to all those attending, gaming, selling and buying! 2022 Convention stuff Rooms…. The hotel will be offering a room block as always. Call them directly. Cost remains: $35 USD includes all 3 days, $20 USD/ dealer table payable at door. I already have heard from many of the regular dealers and gamemasters saying that they are attending. If anyone wants to present a talk, please let me know and I will coordinate with Alex and Jim McIntyre. Dealers …… please let me know how many tables you will need. I'd like to get this information by March 7th so we can get the tables ordered and rented. Games…… Alex again will be scheduling games. While we very much appreciate and encourage the variety of games , we could really use some European SYW scenarios. Alex and I BEG of you, please submit game requests in the attached format. We have standard 6-foot by 30-inch tables. So, design game needs accordingly and only ask for what you need. Please send request to Alex Burns at johannvonhuelsen52@gmail.com with a copy to me. Game slots are scheduled for Thursday late afternoon/evening; and, Friday or Saturday morning, afternoon and evening. Pease state: Game Title, Preference slot and secondary preference, Brief description (one or two compelling sentences) including whether its skirmish, tactical or grand-tactical, Host's name, # of players range, Miniature scale, Rules. We will endeavor to supply adequate setup time and will try to let you keep same tables throughout if you can keep it relatively busy. As soon as you know you are hosting game, but are currently unsure of exact description, please let us know anyway as it takes some serious time to organize tables and schedules. It would be nice to know everything by March 7th. Game sign-up is at the door. I will happily answer separate e-mails from anyone. kbunger@cox.net Also see sevenyearswarassn.org and The Seven Years War Convention Meta (Facebook) Group. Members lost in 2021 Ray Koch. Ray lost a sudden battle to cancer in August. Ray was a regular convention attendee, and with his son, at our early SYW games at various conventions in the 1970's. Ray's day job was as a top executive with Avis. As he climbed up the corporate ladder, he had many, many postings. At every post he made new friends and enriched the local wargame group. He left wargame friends from Mississippi, Ohio, Michigan, Manhattan, DC and Italy. He is survived by his children and wife, Susan. We miss him very much. His last text to me from the hospital was for SYWCon real time updates and photos! If there is someone else whom we recently lost, let me know and I will include the information in an e-mail. COVID POTOCALS: We will abide by whatever hotel and local rules that are in place. So just in case, bring an adequate non-cloth face covering. As of now, neither mask nor vaccination is required, but for all our safety, please get vaccinated. Ken Bunger |

Well, John the OFM and I are here. Despite Indiana's crap Toll Toad (not a Turnpike, like in every other state), we made it and it's quite a nice little con so far. 12 hours of driving, rubbish food on the way, and I'm still excited to roll dice, push lead, and kill things. Eric |

It's been just darn fine so far. I lost playing the British at Saint-Cost and as Prince Charles at Culloden, but this is one heck of a fun time and a great little con. Highly recommended! Eric |

I'm actually hoping that they can post next years dates actually on their FB page instead of the vague "Late March-Early April" for the date. I'd like to go back again perhaps next year. |
dbf1676 | 22 Apr 2022 7:53 a.m. PST |
Next year's dates: March 30-April 1, 2023, per the FB page. |

I'll be there. This is an excellent smaller convention I would highly recommend. Eric |
