"Salute 2022 cancelled?" Topic

@Cardinal Ximenez my close friend works on the front line fighting Covid-19 finding the next vaccine. They are extremely worried about Delta and Omicron mutating and combining (and the new strain found in France).

Tahiti was/is a French colony, and they speak Swahili (I think). So my fake name for the latest version might get used.

My buddy (unvax'd) was released from the hospital yesterday, expected to make full recovery.

I was posting sad news about a cancelled event, not an opportunity for people to debate the pros and cons of vaccines, etc.

When this all first started I 'bubbled' with my partner and her family immediately as there are serious health issues. That was BEFORE we were told to. We also used masks in shops before we had to, it was voluntary and we all got 'funny' looks.

Since then we have had all the jabs available and would have more, if they are offered.

My only point is this:
With an estimated 150,000 excess deaths in the UK and around 800,000 excess deaths in the USA what do the anti-vaxxers think those people died from?
Stress??

They died from a communicable virus whose spread can be slowed (not stopped) by reasonable steps. Those same reasonable steps can turn a severe dose or a death sentence into a mild infection and a few days isolation.

If anyone is in any doubts, just look at the published graphs on BBC and ITV which show that, while infections are sky-high – and at levels where this was at its worst – the death rate as not only NOT gone up, it is showing a flat line or even a very slight drop.

THAT is the value of vaccines and masks. Not 100% effective but good enough to give the majority of us a fighting chance.

Just for the record and for purposes of clarification, I'm not an anti-vaxxer. My wife and I have both had all three (double dose + booster) and a flu jab each as well.

@warspite1 – all these people died "with" Covid, but not necessarily directly "of" Covid. Why? Most were older and had comorbidities. Look at the statistics, quite revealing.

Let me ask you a question, when someone is diagnosed with Covid, what does the doctor prescribe to prevent you from going to the hospital? Surely in this day and age of "advanced medicine" there should be some treatment? Right?
So what is it? Or, do we just wait until your case is so bad we send you to the hospital and put you on a ventilator? Why are the "powers that be" pushing the "vax" as the ONLY solution to relieve us from the pandemic?

The fact is the "vax" which is not a traditional vaccine, but an experimental jab, is a failure.

Statistics are proving this out each and every day. Is it not a fact that in Israel and Great Britain more people are dying in hospitals that have been already jabbed vs unvaxed?

What about the number of Vaxidents? I see reports of "hundreds" of athletes, most in soccer, having respiratory and heart issues. We see the reports of them collapsing and dying on the field. No?

The worm is twisting in the night for the vaxed, as they are beginning to "doubt" their decision. You know it by the vitriol and cult like behavior they express to the unvaxed. I see and witness this firsthand.

No, in fact it is the very opposite, at least in the UK. 90% of those hospitalised with COVID who are dying currently are not vaccinated.

Very sad to hear that 'Salute 50' has been cancelled until April 2023 for traders and enthusiasts alike. Cannot have been easy for them to decide this. However, they are not alone in this decision to cancel, as other shows are now following suit.

Whatever your perspective on Covid (which this post has turned into World CDC news), I admire their strong stance to postpone in order to make the show the best it can be in the future, and we all support them in 2023.

The sharp jump in excess deaths is just THAT – a statistical excess above those who would have died of age and co-morbidities across this period anyway. And, BTW, what have all the previously healthy joggers, athletes, sports persons and previously healthy young children been dying from. Stress?
Excess deaths are just that, excess deaths – unnecessary departures from the yearly or seasonal norms. The more deaths in winter due to the cold and ice and more deaths in summer from swimming, rock climbing and holiday accidents that we would have anyway.
Excess deaths cannot be argued away.
I suggest you understand statistics and statistical method before you comment upon them.

There is nothing experimental about it, it has built on more than 200 years of sound medical science going back to the first smallpox treatments in the 18th century. The current vaccine is based on the pre-existing flu vaccines which are given (in the UK anyway) every year. The treatment was not cooked up in a wok somewhere by a half-stoned Dr Frankenstein who said: "Hey dude, let's try that, it MIGHT work…"

No!
I don't know which shock jock or news feed you get your 'news' from but I get mine from the BBC and ITV here in the UK. Compare the graphs. Infection rates under Omicron have sky-rocketed to "worst days" levels. Yet death rates have NOT. The latest death rate graphs show the levels dancing slightly around what is – when averaged – a flat line with, if anything, a slight tendency to decline. Very slight, maybe an 'eye of faith' decline. I am an optimist.

The fact that the deaths graph has not sky-rocketed at the same rate as the infections graph is all the proof that anyone needs that vaccines and masks actually work.

Vaccines and masks are not a magic bullet, they are reducing a catastrophe down to a crisis, a wave of deaths down to a wave of 'ill but not dead' and reducing recovery times from months down to weeks.

No magic bullet but I would sooner take my chances with medicine than with ignorance.

A lot of HMGS Board Members visit and view these responses in determining the preferences of their members. In the week ending November 12, 2021. the U.K. reported 2,047 more deaths than occurred during the same period between 2015 and 2019; heart disease and strokes appear to be behind many of the excess deaths. I thought Covid was a respiratory aliment.

In the last 13 weeks alone, about 107.700 seniors died above the normal rate, despite a 98.7% injection rate. I thought the experimental jab helped prevent death.

Hope some folks can come down off their soap box in time for Christmas. As a friend of mine liked to say … "forget it, take two aspirin, and go paint" … although he's passed away now, and at some point, we all will too. And no, that's not a medical prescription probably worth a lick of salt, just a way to say … free yourself, relax, and enjoy the holiday season while you can! : )
