You were asked – TMP link What set of rules come to mind when you think of one that after lots initial hype and popularity quickly disappeared from everyone's gaming tables? 25% said "Field of Glory" 7% said "Napoleon (Wargames Foundry)" 7% said "Tactica" |

Yes, FOG really failed. I bought the second edition without reading any of the reviews. It was a mistake. It sufficiently angered me that I threw it in the garbage. That's very unusual for me since I never throw books away, especially since it wasn't inexpensive. I even waited awhile before doing it, so it was a deliberate decision. |

Never played FOG with miniatures but I've been playing FOG2 on the PC for a couple of years and really enjoy it. It's IGOUGO and can be played with an online opponent – you get an email to notify you of your turn. Since I've not had the opportunity to play tabletop games during the pandemic, FOG2 has been a godsend! |

Funny, some in my group LOVE FOG, especially renaissance. Didn't like them, too many chart iterations. My group also plays Tactica because one member thinks it is the best ancients game ever. I play it when nothing else is there, but definitely a bottom choice for me. I guess my group is out of touch with general opinion. |

i thought FOG is a popular system no? what is it that people dont like about it? a rules systems that seems to me to have been a flash in the Pan was "Napoleon at War" -but i say tht largely because i dont find anything online to suggest there was any community playing it now and also o get the impression from the rule book that it was to be like a FOG type tournament game for use just with their own range of miniatures, i think |

FOG V3 is a great improvement over V2 and is still played in the US South-East. |

I don't think it ever took off and seems to have died out completely. -Wayne |

Napoleon at War is still alive in Freeware on Facebook. But like most Napoleonic rules it is essentially local fan based |
