Scale: 28mm WW2 Skirmish Gaming

Suggested Rules: Bolt Action "U.S.S.R." (Ultra Simple Skirmish Rules)

Intent: Introduction to 28mm, WW2 miniature wargaming. Suitable for Conventions, Club Open Game nights, Demonstrations, even History class visual aid. This is a light skirmish game with out heavy equipment, fixed emplacements or vehicles.

Terrain/Set-up: 48" x 48" surface with medium assortment of trees, hedges, stone walls evenly dispersed throughout. Also 2-3 buildings should be set near center to represent a farmhouse or family homestead.

Recommended Miniatures: because of the semi-historical backstory, I opted for Artizan Designs miniatures. Appropriate Bolt Action, Foundry, Crusader figs will work perfectly well.

Allied Forces: 8 US Airborne Pathfinders and 4 Saboteurs – Packs: 316, 317, 119

German forces: 10 man German infantry squad and 4 man German Command – Packs: 025, 027

Backstory and Game Objective: On the eve of D-Day, American Pathfinders find themselves assisting a small squad of British Commandos who are tasked with securing a key bridge against inevitable German Panzer reinforcements. The Brits are equipped with explosives to demolish the bridge if they are unable to capture and hold it.

The Allied player must exit 2 of the 4 Commando figs off the opposite German side of the table.

The German player must prevent this from happening.

Special: Squad Composition – the Allied forces have 3 squads 2, 4-man Pathfinders and 1, 4 man Commando.
The German forces have 2, 7 man squads with 1 squad starting inside the farmhouse area.

Turn Limit: 10

This is slated for our next game night so I figured I might post it here.

Looks more like a contest entry…

Would the contest theme then be "Introduction to 28mm, WW2 miniature wargaming" using Bolt Action's U.S.S.R. (Ultra Simple Skirmish Rules)?

Ohh. Sorry.

erm.. Yes. Yes, that's exactly what I meant! I thought the theme was supposed to be illustrated by the scenario.

I figure the hobby always needs an infusion of new gamers, young or old, and given the current interest in WW2 games this seemed appropriate. Regardless, I will be playing this one out and posting a Bat Rep with pictures.

My apologies for any confusion.

A battle report contest is a very nice idea and the scenario sounds very cool.
