I am looking at building a small force of British Airborne troops in 28mm. Can anyone recommend a good base paint for their maroon berets. I am considering Vallejo Dark Red 70.946. What do others think? |

I use a craft paint: Ceramcoat Maroon. Looks good to me. And it's cheap! |

Another vote for Ceramcoat. Something I have found is it also depends on the colour of the primer you use. I use grey, so I sometimes will wash the figure with brown or chestnut ink, which darkens the paint up a little. Eric |

The paras Berets colour is Maroon not red or any other colour. |

I played with several Vallejo and Citadel colors, and settled on the dark red you are considering. After wash it's pretty much spot-on to my eye. |
