What is your favorite type of helmet?

Mine is the morion.

I am reading "Cities of Gold" by Bill Yenne and I find the Conquistadors and their mad quest for Eldorado and the other fable places quite fascinating. And for me the morion is iconic for the Conquistadors, although they probably did not wear it. But never the less I find it quite fancy.

Thanks for your interest.

Stefan

I like the zunari kabuto, and the morion-cabasset.

Always fond of the crested helmet with front bill and cheek pieces. Examples would include several of the styles worn by phalangites in Successor states, the crested burgonet of the Renaissance, the lobster-tail pot of the 17th century, and the cuirassier and dragoon helmets of the First Empire.

Well it used to be the one guarding my own personal head--classic US early on, "Fritz" later.

But Corinthian, I think, in the abstract.

French Sappeurs-pompiers helmet. I well remember them lined up in a window in the fire-station at Cornimont in Alsace, and seeing them worn when they paraded on Bastille Day around 1970.

Bascinet with Klappvisor or nasal. Second would be a great bascinet with visor.

I also enjoy the classic Montefortino helmets as well.

Damon.

Great Helm. No nonsense maximum protection. Just a few grudging holes to enable the wearer to see and breathe…

The helmet from the early 13th century with the flat top and a face shield but not the full "bucket" that was popular in the mid 13th century.
