Been in the news for a week now. First reports appear that someone left a cover on. As someone I saw put it, "Years from now someone will wonder why the take off checklist includes the line in bold and triple underlined 'Make bloody sure that you took off all the covers before take off.'"

Doesn't this always happen? New expensive aircraft, one immediately gets destroyed pointlessly? Maybe it's a cosmic necessity.

Well, the UK hasn't had carrier ops for a decade prior- maybe they just need more time to get back in the swing?

This has happened to all the carrier going navies as part of their growing pains, so it's not just the Brits.
