In which I tell how the game plays and what I think of it.
Plus, "Lit'l ‘Zilla" makes an appearance.

Played the original with my kids. They still give me a hard time for how evil I was as Zargon!

I find hard to believe there is any evil in you.

Nice one. I picked this up to play with the kids over the holidays, sounds like it fits the bill.

Played with my college age boys and wife over the holiday and had a blast, and with the app, I got to play along instead of just be Zargon.
We've already made plans to play more when they return for the next holiday break.

The reason for the older ages on the game is that the rules for child safety have changed since the first edition was released. It is far cheaper to raise the minimum age than to have to undergo the expensive and rigorous testing now required, so many manufacturers are now simply changing the age to avoid a potentially expensive redesign after the expensive testing requires changes to the product. Hero quest remains quite friendly to youngsters, but Hasbro decided it was cheaper to avoid saying so.

Glad you enjoy this edition.

Oh, and for you owners of the original, the app should work with it as well- just take note of the change from Chaos Warriors to Dread Warriors and Fmir to Abominations. So if you have the old set, feel free to give the free app a go.
