My own knowledge of French politics is small, and I learned a lot from this long analysis. No doubt there will be those who disagree with it.

Read it, seemed to just be another example of the right wing attack on democratic states around the world. Proclaim that folks should fear something particular, be it unions, religion, political parties, etc., and you can mobilize folks to follow you. Its been done before, only question is how desperate or ignorant your target audience is. I'll avoid Godwin's law at this point.

For all the screaming about the number of Muslims in France, there is a population of only 5% of the total, which is what the percentage of Muslims in European countries is, given that some countries have far less and others far more.

Immigration in Europe is politicized, like here in the states and is usually used as a right wing or alt-right stalking horse argument in the present day. Being popular among Le Pen voters is not exactly an strong appeal to the center or left voters of the political movements in France. Again, avoiding Godwin's law.

The linked article manages to strike a fair number of points that are regular consumption for conservative readers, while painting a rosy and sympathetic picture of Éric Zemmour. He may or may not be, but one has to wonder why in a modern democracy (France) he feels persecuted by laws passed by the government.

Excellent read. Thank you.

Ridiculous nonsense, I'm afraid. In The Netherlands we also have "politicians" who scream about muslims and bloody foreigners, but fortunately they have no influence at all (unfortunately still desperate voters who believe social media). God help us if a fascist like Zemmour would become president !

repaint30 Nov 2021 5:04 a.m. PST

Zemmour is leading the wrong battle. Billionaires are the ones ruling and shaping countries into markets that please them. That is what is really leading the "dispossession" the article is talking about.

Aapsych2030 Nov 2021 12:47 p.m. PST

It's been a while since I've seen an article author Bleeped text on the article's subject – a fascist, as someone rightly pointed out.

I suppose if there is any threat to French democracy, it is that. Now who's up for gaming an alternative history Soviet airborne intervention in a strife-ridden late cold war era Paris? Sounds just as plausible.

We can take Sweden as an example. 20% of the population is born abroad. Mainly from Africa or the Mid East.

A strong push from muslims to install a "muslim civil society" parallell to "Swedish civil society".

Strong push from muslims for authorities, healthcare systems and others to conform to muslim values and rules.

A strong unwillingness to embrace and accept Swedish customs and the swedish way of life.

In many ways a disdain and dislike for anything swedish. Swedes are seen as people of lesser value.

In general second generation immigrants are more radical than their parents.

repaint30 Nov 2021 2:40 p.m. PST

France is a mess. Sweden is certainly a bigger mess.

The problem with people who label themselves as "anti-racist" is that they virtue-signal their moral superiority by taking a stance in favor of the color of the skin or religion above the anti-social behavior of the individual, turning a blind eye to problems that are bleeding many European countries.

Basically, because of your ethnicity, you should be held, in their mind, to lesser standards than natives.

Nobody likes racists and bigots, even if they call themselves anti-racists.

So in the end, violence grows rampant, crime grows rampant, religious divide grows rampant, racism and defiance grow exponentially until we end up like Lebanon or Yugoslavia.

Either side of the political board, people have civil war on their mind.

I still think the core enablers of this situation are the billionaires who shaped this twisted reality from many different angles. These apprentice sorcerers have changed eco-systems deeply for their perceived gains. Ultimately, there are consequences.

"Anti-racism is anti-white" is the old and explosive mantra of avowed White supremacists.

White supremacists are mobilizing against an anti-White army that isn't mobilizing. Then again, if there is an army that is mobilizing, that is coming, that is here—it is made up of White supremacists. Their carnage is here. Their ideology, too.

We learn every day.

More simply, the (neo-)anti-racists are racists. Regardless of the color of the skin. They don't see what unifies people but what divides them. They don't see the human being but his color. It's their obsession. People are judged, praised or excused by the color of their skin not the content of their character.

-MLK is probably more my cup of tea.

"20% of the population is born abroad". Makes me think of a certain British colony around the 17th century (;-)))))

Create a fear, the ignorant will believe.

Is not really unbiased, plus agenda & narrative driven, etc., IMO. Albeit many like him are on either side … it's not rare.

However, IMO the "White supremacists" are the "new threat" to some … there always has to be a bad guy. Saying White supremacists is a rallying cry for some to fit their cause narrative, agenda, etc., of reality.

Regardless, this "White supremacists movement" is a paper tiger at best. They are not out planning to go on a White supremacists "Jihad" against everybody who is not them. How amusing.

To many with very polarized opinions, if you are a white male, blue collar, gun owner, voted differently than those on the opposite side. You are a White supremacists …

Well basically these "White supremacists" are no where near as organized, coordinated, the new Red now White horde, etc. threat that they oft are described/talked about, etc.

Every time some in gov't or media, etc., say the White supremacists are the new "boggy man", etc. I have to smile and shake my head.

Are those in media or even gov't really that uninformed, biased, etc. ? To think these White supremacists types are really that much of a threat ?

Those types are the least of things to be concerned about. And NO I don't agree, side with, believe, etc., as the "White supremacists", etc., do. In many cases they are laughable. Lost in the past.

They are a tiny minority, at best. But some like Kendi, The View, some activists in congress, etc., etc. Seem to give them new life and something to really be concerned about. Those that fear White supremacists … are also living in the past. Or at least another reality.

Mostly the White supremacists, KKK, Neo-Nazis, etc., get a permit from the local gov't to have their "parade/march/demonstration", etc. They march around waving silly flags, in funny uniforms, sheets, clothing, etc. Singing stupid songs. Get into a yelling contest with their detractors, etc. Generally, there is little violence. They make fools of themselves, make a lot of noise then go home. They are an anachronism, etc.

On the other had, BLM, etc. protests usually turn into a riot, with looting, burning down a city block or two, etc. And the media makes it a bigger circus than it already is. IIRC, last summer there were over 540 protests turned riots.

One make fools of themselves … the other side riots, burns & loot. You can't make this stuff up …

And NO I am not racist, I had many Black & Hispanic friends and comrades in the Army, back in my long past youth. I have friends, etc., of all races, religions, etc., now. To look down on someone because of their race, ethnicity, etc., only makes you look like a fool. As repaint mentioned MLK, said something like, Don't judge some by their color, but by what kind of person they are inside.

I've already said too much …

Random – yes this is correct based on their own statements.

Legion, you are not expressing racist sentiment here, nor would I think of you at all in that way. Finding a logical assessment based on good information about this is not easy.
I do not personally know any KKK, BLM, antifa, socialists, communists, etc. I live in a very small town and we would know. So I don't know who to ask. But Claremont is not on my list.

See he just had a public speaking rally that turned into a riot.

And to agree, "Claremont" has zero credibility as a source other than for those who travel down those roads.

Thank you … I hope others understand what I stand for, etc.

I do not personally know any KKK, BLM, antifa, socialists, communists, etc.
Nor do I, but the information about these types is out there. One just has to listen to what you hear in the media then do research on your own. As many in the media are biased, have an agenda and narrative they want to push. Logic & common sense is generally rare, IMO.

And if you disagree with what some say in the media, etc., then you must be a racist, etc.

If everything it "racist" … then nothing is "racist" …

We are overwhelmed by our own rhetoric these days. Too busy arguing instead in of dealing with Putin, China, etc.
