I've just set up my first historical Peninsular scenario. Obviously I had to tinker with it by making it a 'What if'. Otherwise Vimeiro isn't really a game, IMHO. Notes, OOBs, and more pics here: link

Beautiful board and figs sir! Even after reading a couple of sources, never really got an answer as to why the French battalions were so massive- some being over 1,200+ men IIRC. What was the reason for this? |

I don't know why. I suspect they picked up garrisons or suchlike en route, a company here, a company there, and rather than form them into new units, simply attached them to existing formations – thus negating the need to find new senior officers, and create new structures, to command them. If it were a temporary measure this would make sense. |

That seems feasible….thanks for the insight! I am building up to play the town assault only version, saving space and figures by ignoring the flanking movements. I commend you for getting that part in as well. |
