Following up BobGrognard's inquiry into the pronunciation of "Lieutenant." Does anyone know which of the three commands above would have been normal in Prince Rupert's day? And the timing of replacements? Presumably the branches of the English-speaking world have diverged from a common original, but in what manner?

Don't know how accurate it is, but in most American and British sailing era naval historical fiction, the command is "Beat to Quarters!"

I think all of those commands are American only and fairly recent
