Jonathan Gingerich's Russian uniforms website has moved :

Mind boggling!

The most comprehensive resource I've ever seen.

To anyone collecting Napoleonic Era Russian Armies, this is indispensable.

Spasiba, Michman!

Now I have to re-paint all my Russians in 15mm and 28mm!!!

Michman25 Nov 2021 3:11 p.m. PST

Thank Mr. Gingerich, not me.

It is all his (very hard and long) work. And do read/study the footnotes ! In many cases, he outlines the various sources' sometimes conflicting information.

Ok, that site is just outstanding. Wow. Many thanks for the reference.

Yes old site is gone, don't need it as much as finished most of my Russians but thinking of more.

Same domain but new sub-domain so seems a strange thing to do unless he'd become spam-fodder perhaps.
And the 'new' doesn't even acknowledge this [see edit dates], so it appears. nothing much new except the url.
Duly updated links…

thanks d~~

Which means you also have to sub-in the url for :-
Order of Battle of Allied Combined Armies
link

Other direct link pages, from his brief index page lists:

https://kiver.000webhostapp.com/index.html

Russian Facings of the Napoleonic Wars
Allied Armies at Austerlitz
Allied Armies at Eylau
Russian Armies at Borodino

Without a forwarding script he's also broken a lot of the wikis and forum links around the planet. At some time he had an alternate back up site too but that appears to have goneburger…

I'm doing Russians at the moment so very useful indeed. Cheers.

He posted this memo over on TWW:-

Looks like Hostinger/000WebHost has pulled the plug on my Russian web site without notice!!!
I had a lot of good years for free and their support the couple of times I used it was outstanding, but jeesh they better not be expecting a recommendation…
I have all the files. Just need to find a new host and get it out there…

For whatever reason he rebuilt at the given 'new' sub-domain,
at least an explaination of sorts…
like he says, download a copy …

Also extremely useful is: link similar to 100 days site but solely on Russians. Covers Catherine the Great, Paul I & Alexander I. It is not complete but still a useful tool.

Do you really trust something like … this My own schemes (pixel drawings) of European military uniforms during the ???
I've seen fake utter drivel posted there and you cant tell the difference in some cases…

Hi,

Does anyone have a means to get in touch with Jonathan or, failing that, his chart for the 1805/1807 Russian hussars? Just when you need something and it's not there!!

Thanks,

Mark

Lived by this chart for years, while pretty well done still come back if redoing a unit done long ago.
Would be a terrible shame for the work in it to disappear

Thank you Michman for the link, you saved my painting commission for the 1799 Russians! Much grateful!!

Regards,

Steve
