I wish Britain had been interested in the War of the Triple Alliance, as that would allow some off-beat "what if?" scenarios. But no.

The war was just 3 regional powers policing a crazy dictator who was destabilizing the entire region. The idea that Britain gave a darn about a country of half a million peasants, one thousand miles up the Paraguay River in the middle of the South American jungle is just silly.
