When I joined the old Southampton wargames club back in the late 1980s I noticed a few members had collections of non-combatant vehicles for modern micro gaming, things like earthmovers, excavators, refuse trucks, mobile homes and fast food vans. We collectively described these noncom items "9ce cream vans", and since then I have built up my own small collection.

Do you have "ice cream vans" in your collections?

I have two that I converted for post Apoc games. One is "Doc in the box" mobile "doc" surgery & such, the other a mobile arms/ammo dealer.

What about first responder vehicles?

I would be more surprised if you do post-WWII gaming without civilian vehicles. There certainly are legit opportunities where they weren't present, and even more where you could just not have them because they weren't important.

I scrounged an old Life Like HO Scale circus wagon to use with my 15 mm ACW. At HO its of course ridiculously oversized, but with a bit of paint it does a fair job subbing in as one of those enormous hot air balloon tender wagons.

Oh yes, several /many.

Those columns of T64s need something to drive over on their way to the Rhine.

I have several pickup trucks and cars, a limousine, a few earth-moving machines, a couple of Finnish police vans, and a few other odds and ends, all of which look OK with 25mm miniatures, although I'm not at all sure about scale.

No actual ice cream vans, but I do have a ROCO HO scale field kitchen somewhere. It won't work with 25mm miniatures.

They're justified, and they're ancient.

Probably, around here somewhere.

I have SF versions of such, given that so many of my games are not even proper war zone settings I would doubtless have some non-military vehicles about. So far I have a personal transport, cyberbikes, a hover tuktuk and a hover kombi.

I also have some civilian interwar period cars for pulp adventure, they may end up in a ww2 adventure yet.
As for post-war, there are definitely some cars around.
