Not best.
Not most accurate.

The one you like to watch. (Though the reason might include the first two!)

For me it's :

The White Queen
The Last Kingdom

In the documentary category, World at War closely followed by Victory at Sea. Both because of great scores.

Band of Brothers for historical series.

Perris070716 Nov 2021 5:53 p.m. PST

The Pacific.

khanscom16 Nov 2021 6:51 p.m. PST

Hogan's Heroes, Rat Patrol, MASH. It's called "entertainment," for a reason: they all entertained me, regardless of historical fallacies. I was able to stream Hogan's Heroes, in order, every single episode, on one of my subscription channels. I watched the re-run's as a child, never seeing them in order, nor every episode. It was quite entertaining to watch them properly. Wish I could find the other two on streaming, in proper order, every episode, start to finish…

Watched Star Trek: TOS, in order, via streaming. It made a difference seeing it the way it was presented. It was also nice to know that I had seen every episode, to know that I had not missed a single one. Did the same with Star Trek: Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine. Could never watch them that way, when broadcast, too busy, lost track. I do love my streaming. Just wish more classics were made available, in full. Cheers!

More votes for "Band of Brothers" and "Rome." These are about the only "war stuff" my wife will watch. My intro as a kid was "Victory at Sea." You might note all of these have great music.

Escapee Supporting Member of TMP17 Nov 2021 1:18 p.m. PST

Band of Brothers and Pacific – these moved me like no other series.

Hornblower and Sharpe for good storytelling.

Reilly Ace of Spies for atmosphere.

John Adams for history.

Victory at Sea for music, several others a close second.

Hell on Wheels – best western because of the railroads, but Deadwood and Lonesome Dove close.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP17 Nov 2021 2:20 p.m. PST

The Last Kingdom for me followed by Hell on Wheels and then Vikings

I rather like the Spartacus series.
Works for me from more than one angle ;-)

Loved Rome.

Much good stuff already mentioned.

Cheers.

Band of Brothers

I used to talk to WW2 Army Air Force bomber group members. I asked which movie they felt was best as far as their experiences went. Hand's down 12 o'clock High.

Many others I enjoy, but will stay with Band of Brothers.

14Bore18 Nov 2021 2:03 p.m. PST
