Howdy,
An "oopsie" in the title .. should be Saracen, not Sacacen.
I ran a So Convenient for Hewing game at Saga Games in Frederick, Maryland on Sunday afternoon, 11/14/2021.
A skirmish on the Byzantine Frontier. Saracen raiders had pillaged, and were returning from a raid. They were intercepted by a Byzantine force. The Byzantines slaughtered the raiders, and prevented the Saracens from escaping with the loot. It was a fun game. The result was unexpected, as the Byzantines were the weaker force. Good fun. Photos will follow.
Both sides forces had a vanguard on the table (two units) at start, with additional forces entering on Turns 2 & 3.
Saracen OB --- 6 units + cart & 1 senior leader
2 – Light Cavalry units with bow (light), Str 4
2 – Heavy Cavalry units with bow, armor & shield (veteran), Str 6
2 – Foot archer units, bow, Str 8
1 – Cart with loot (green), Str 0
Saracen vanguard: 1 lt cav & 1 hvy cav (at start)
Saracen mainbody: 2 archer units, cart, and senior leader (Turn 2)
Saracen rear guard: 1 lt cav & 1 hvy cav (Turn 3)
Byzantine OB --- also 6 units & 1 senior leader
2 – Light foot, javelin & shield (light), Str 4
2 – Light Cavalry units with bow (light), Str 4
2 – Heavy Cavalry units with bow, armor & shield (veteran), Str 6
Byzantine vanguard: 1 lt cav & 1 lt inf (at start)
Byzantine main body: 1t cav & 1 lt inf (Turn 2)
Byzanting rear guard: 2 hvy cab + senior leader (Turn 3)
More to come …
Ponder on,
JAS
