I picked up some Ice Station Zebra type figures for a little skirmish game. I just added some more Inuits and some civilian worker types with a variety of firearms and hand weapons to the mix. I still have to order some caveman types from Lucid Eye. And then, yesterday, it struck me. Maybe add some of those great Perry Retreat From Moscow figures… A time warp or wormhole or whatever has my 70s/80s vintage Ice Station figures come across soldiers from the Grande Armee, maybe fleeing from the above-mentioned cavemen? And I still have to order some prehistoric animals… This is turning into way more than I bargained for. |

You've heard of Scale Creep. You're pioneering Scenario Creep. Now, where can you get a 28mm Skate Class nuclear boat? |

New to wargaming? Welcome brother 70th PA! Wait until you get a buddy with a Dr. Who or Judge Dredd collection. I have a friend with both. And he also is a Jules Verne fan. Hollow earth scenarios for all! It is the way. Cheers. |

Not to mention if you get a Skate class sub you should try for a Hotel class as well! |

You post that like that is a bad thing. Got aliens? Dinosaurs? Adolf and his Arctic/Antarctic troopers and secret submarine/anti-grav saucer base? Delta Force, Canadian Special Forces, or US Navy Seals? Russian/Soviet Spetznaz? Leopard Seals and Polar Bears? Swedish Bikini Team? The Thing, ………………………??? |

Yes to US and Russian troops as well as civilians/scientists, and working on some other items. This went from an impulse buy lark to a full-blown project. |

I also read that there is a species of lizards that live in the cold, so that puts lizard men into play. |

I wouldn't omit the alien from the X-Files Fight the Future to go with your cavemen. Then there was the episode with the submarine, Mulder and the Alien Bounty Hunter in the arctic. Pulp Figures offers prehistoric figures if I recall. |

I picked up a flying saucer a couple of months ago, a dog sled team last month, and a polar bear two days ago. Things are plodding along. |

Now, where can you get a 28mm Skate Class nuclear boat? Unfortunately the fairly common modern sub scale for R/C subs is 1/96, which gives about 3/4-inch for a 6-foot-tall human, so about 15mm scale. Since the only part of the sub visible above the ice would be the sail, you could scratch-build a 28mm equivalent fairly easily. |
