My personal heart-felt favorites are "Mansions of the Lord" from We Were Soldiers, and "Hymn for the Fallen" from Private Ryan. But their must be others and I am interested in hearing more along this line.

Veterans' Day is intended to honor all U.S. veterans for their service to the country, not just those who died in action. My choice would be something like "Stars and Stripes Forever," or some other patriotic march. It's more obscure, but I also like the "Guadalcanal March," which Richard Rogers composed for the 1950's television series "Victory at Sea." Here it is played by the Marine Band. YouTube link

Mine too! 15th Air Force in Italy, 36 missions.

Alfred Newman composed the music, a great theme!

I forgot about Black Hawk Down, good call.

I have all the Rogers music, agree with Guadalcanal March – it's very uplifting.

A personal favorite: James Horner's soundtrack from the movie "Glory" and the vocals by the Boys Choir of Harlem.
