I'm in the middle of rebasing and repainting my modern naval stuff, starting with a US CVBG, circa 1986. So far I've rebased and undercoated the ships and painted up some of the air wing. The planes are 1/1200 from Cap Aero and are on 2mm magnets so they can be stored more easily than before (previously I had them permanently mounted on wire bases). The bases are laser-cut mdf from warbases in the UK and I used ordinary dressmaker's pins so the magnets sit nicely on the top. I have a selection of single and double mounts so fighters can be moved as a pair (i.e. leader and wingman). The planes are tiny – only about 20mm long! More on the blog, here: link Nick |

Thanks guys – they'll be seeing action on Saturday against some Libyan MiG-25s… Nick |

Ooh, this is promising. I like your Tomcats. I've got lots of plastic ones (Triang Minic made a pack of 1/1200th mixed USN types – not sure if they are still available) but yours look better than mine – especially the cockpits. |

Cheers Colkitto – well, I did say Henry was itching to get back to sea! We've got a big game planned for Saturday – action in the Gulf of Sidra, 1986. Nick |
