I spent a very pleasant Saturday as a guest of Warlord Games playing the Battle of Trafalgar with the 1:700 Warlord collection of model ships using Black Seas.

With an invited group of players and spectators we enjoyed a full day of gaming recreating this famous battle in the grand manner.

Whilst also getting an opportunity to experience the dietary delights of the life at sea together with the practicalities of loading a 32-pounder gun with just one roundshot, honestly if you have not picked up a ball of this weight I would recommend not doing so!

Ha!

Whitewashed facsimiles of Royal Navy Grog and Hardtack! Where are the weevils!!!???

There is also a commercial rum labeled Pusser's Rum made according to the original RN recipe. When the RN stopped the tot an entrepreneur purchased the recipe. The most authentic Pusser Line is their Black Label Brand at 54% alcohol.. Their blue label is slightly diluted to 40% alcohol so it could be sold in places with alcohol restrictions.

Next time bring the Pusser's (is it available in the UK?) and the weevils!!!

Looked like a great game though. Have tons of naval rules and run many games. Black Seas actually is a good combination of fun and feel for Napoleonic age of sail. Easy for people to pick up.

Always impressive to see the "big" game.

Well done, the hardtack and grog are a good added touch.

Thanks for your comments chaps, we all had a great day and for me personally it was a real pleasure seeing the collection on the table in ‘battle order' for the first time and everybody having fun with them.

As for the grog and hard tack, that was an experience in another sense of the word and I'm glad the grog was not at full tilt as I don't drink, so it was even better to still be able to see the models in the afternoon after lunch!

cheers
JJ
