As Im getting older I was Thinking about life a couple of weeks ago, and the thing I most regret is NOT doing more big table Wargaming, so I have decided on Black powder Rules, FIW AWI ACW . The Table is 4.5 x 10 ft = 45 sq foot minis 15mm

I live in a wonderful old Victorian house. The thing about Victorian houses is they have lots of rooms, but the rooms are small by modern standards. So a 'big table game' is not going to fit! grin

I would use a curving table then, with maybe a rail link from room to room :) or a hill battle on a multi-level table in one room, or both :)

Wow!

that sounds like a good shed to potter in :) you could have a private club in a big shed.

That's what the carriage house out back is for. grin

I used to love Victorians until I got to spend some time in them. They are a pile of contradictions – grand and cramped, elegant and creaky, cozy and drafty.

Bravo, AMe4sure!

My dome house has enough space in the living room for a 6'x12' table, so a few years ago I was starting to regret that I hadn't taken advantage of that more often. In early 2020 I had arranged my entire year's calendar with 4 quarterly games at my house between club games, conventions, and vacations, but the pandemic shut down everything before I even got to the first one. frown

I have three tables in my basement, the largest of which is 5' x 13'. Yes, log cabin games are great fun, especially with a bunch of kids, and you NEVER have enough room. I have considered putting each log cabin on a smaller space, maybe 3' square, that can be kept apart, as most of the surface in a Mohawk Valley game is just woods. Strategic on a map, tactical on a table. But there is nothing like a BIG setup.

I have a 3 car garage and prior to the pandemic we would schedule 2 or 3 large games a years using a 24'x6' table. Hopefully will be able to schedule games there next year.

Current game table setup is 2 ft ends with 8 ft in the middles and 5 ft width for a total of 70 sq feet. The end tables (each four feet in length), can be added or subtracted so if I wanted a really LONG table I could have one 16 ft by 5 ft. or some other variations.

hey so I'm not alone with the big idea :)

OSCS7425 Oct 2021 6:39 a.m. PST

Width do matter. Has I get older I find it difficult to reach across the table.

AMe4sure25 Oct 2021 7:45 a.m. PST

yes I had to make space both sides, so it took more room.

I've done a couple of 54mm Army Men games on a 12 ft x 30 ft table. It had an opening up the middle, on the 12 ft side, which gave access to the middle section on all sides. That is the only way I care to game 54mm Army Men games anymore. Did the floor games, prior, but I'm too old for floor games anymore.

We typically do 5 ft x 9 ft tables for 25mm games, which are more common, and more frequent. Have only had a desire to do a larger table setup a couple of times. Cheers!

Sgt Slag, yes thx, good idea to have a snug hole. maybe a table on rollers :)

AMe4sure25 Oct 2021 4:59 p.m. PST

Sgt Slag, do you have any pics on your 54mm ?

Yes. Here is a link to an album of photo's, before, and during the last game with the 12-foot by 30-foot table. Cheers!

I think there is something to be said for both large and small tables.
