Guys,

Getting a jump-start here anticipating the upcoming big battles rules release of Strength & Honour by Mark Backhouse, and trying out my hand on these 2mm style units that'll play with the game.

These are Korhyl Miniatures resin bases manufactured by Marco Chitarrini, which come pre-textured and all ready for painting.

Lots yet to paint (the legions here my 1st attempts), with scenics, camps, etc. all to follow, while still waiting for the rules to come out from Reisswitz Press.

(recessed slots on the base corners for unit labels)

Hoping to get at least somewhere close to the look that Mark has achieved with his S&H presentations.

Do those come with a microscope?

Thanks a lot for the kind review.
@legionarius: ahahah no! No microscope comes with any order, but trust me you you will be surprised on how easy is to paint a base like that.

I'm the producer of the eesin bases for this new upcomibg wargame rules. Rules are not mine, but i playtested them and the game is absolutely wery well written.
That's the first time i talk about it here on TMP, so i don't know where to start.

Hopong not to brake some rule here, i leave the link of the FB official page of the game:

Then my website if you want more info:

And my FB page:

After that… please ask

No offense gents. I just can't see such small figures. If you can, enjoy.:)

"I just can't see such small figures."

Legionarius, you just nailed it!

One guy joked recently that he couldn't see the 2mm figures either, because of all the 1800mm figures in the way (1st public showing of S&H at SELWG last week).

But that's the approach for the up-coming system, and a way to think about gaming on this grand scale – if viewing a whole battlefield (from the lofty height of us game gods) one doesn't see individual warriors, but groups and units of them, formations and bands of them.

In my pictures above, all those dots (and they're done with paint pens) conspire to help portray an illusion of massed units – a host in battle array – I know, a pretty grand title for such small "footprints", but…..

Legionarius, no offense taken either – and thanks for commenting!

The coming battle of Paradox. ;)

Seems no more than a board game to me..

(like Kriegspieling maybe, but where blocks are bases?)

I have to admit, there's a fair number of board game systems that transfer into 3D, and play like miniatures, these conversions can be done with 28mm figure blocks or 2mm blocks.

Strength & Honour is going to be played on a grid just like To The Strongest, as an example from the pages here of TMP, an excellent To The Strongest game with miniatures.

But at 10,000 feet above the battlefield, just about anything can start to look like a board game.

@Matamoros1337

"Seems no more than a board game to me.."

Why, do you think 3 figures on a 60 x 20 base looks more convincing ?

Personally I find the sight of 300 – 400 figures pretending to be an army of 1000's just silly. Made the move to 2mm over 20 years back and I've never been happier.

KB, I wished I had downsized quite a few of my collection building ideas years ago. ;)

In regards to S&H here, it'll be a way for me to get into ancients again, even though I've got dusty-shelved Greeks and Roman 15s (these being Minifigs and Heritage figs to date myself), I'm looking "macro" at S&H's capabilities – for maybe drawing players into the panorama of the battlefields, but on small accessible table spaces (like at our local shop). Also not expecting anyone to take up a brush with some new-found fascination with the smaller scales or a new game system (besides, most my buds preface playing something new with "I'm not buying anymore stuff Dave!").

For guys who might want to try something different, or have ideas towards using a new game system with a different perspective to maybe liven up the old game days – well, it's going to happen soon enough around here……of course I'll already be primed for their "where's the microscope" lines, or "you missed a spot there"….. :)))

To contribute to this discussion, i want to say that, as ever, a mix of all is the way in my opinion.

I love and i started with big scales long time ago. i continue playing big scales while i also tried smaller ones to reach the tiny 2mm.
All scales have their strengths… 2mm has the speed.
- in modelling – in painting – in gaming

Plus the overall look of the table that gives the real idea of a big battle from above.

Sayd that, the game per se is playable with any scale so join the FB group and take a look. The game worth another FB group subscription 😊😛
