Hi, I'm looking at putting this book/wargaming guide on my Christmas list.
I was just wondering how many of the scenarios in the book are 'real' i.e. historical scenarios based on fights that actually happened, rather than 'what if' made up scenarios?

I'd like to know before committing a sizeable wedge of hard earned cash! :)

Any help appreciated greatly.

I believe they are ALL historical scenarios. Been a few years since I read it, but Bob G. is really good at his research.

I highly recommend the book for a fairly unknown operation in history.

Highly recommended — this is one of the best wargaming product I have ever seen, from top notch historical research to great scenarios, well-thought after and balanced while still historical. And a lot of useful background information. I would not wait for Christmas. ;)

Thanks all. I was hoping that was the case. I'll use the time to reread the dunsterforce books I have :)
Currently playing the Malleson mission with some home made trains, so fancied Dunster next :)

As others have already said, it's a great source book and yes, all scenarios are historical. They include Brits defending oil rigs and Armenian Christians! (Not in the same scenario.) The variety of troop types is amazing, you can field British forces in tropical service uniform against Turks, Red Russians, and goodness knows what else. I am gradually building up a 54mm collection to game this theatre. The maps are superb.

All,

First, sorry I didn't see this earlier. But, thanks for the very nice comments on my Dunsterforce book. Glad it has been well received.

So everyone knows, and it's well overdue (due to Covid), next up is another WWI sideshow scenario book – The Senussi Campaign in the Western Desert. This is about 50% through the final edit, so it should appear later this year from Partizan Press.

Best Regards,
Bob
