The new edition published by Modiphius showed up in my mailbox recently. I'm looking forward to putting together my first crew after I finish reading through the rules. Surveying my collection of sci-fi miniatures uncovered a potential snag – how to represent some of the aliens? I'll be using proxies initially, but I'd like to get some that more accurately depict the aliens in the book: Engineers – Physically fragile humanoids who favor masks and hoods. They have a talent for technology. Any Not!Quarians on the market? K'Erin – The resident group of proud, honor-bound warriors. I'll be using armored fantasy fighter-types until I find something better. Soulless – A hive mind made up of robots. There are plenty of humanoid robots on the market, but I'm curious what y'all are using for these and Bots. Precusor – Graceful humanoids who have been journeying through space since forever. Some flavor of space elves? Feral – Human-animal hybrids. I have a big cat-like humanoid from Alternative Armies that I was planning on using as a Kzinti for Star Trek Adventures. I'm on the look out for some kind of wolf-like figure, though. Swift – Small humanoid lizards with wings. Any Droyne miniatures still available these days? I'd also like to hear how folks are representing the various criminal gangs, the Converted (cyborgs that kidnap people to replenish their numbers), the Abductors (Grey aliens), and some of the critters that might menace a Five Parsecs crew. |

RAFM makes 15mm Droynes, though if they're supposed to be small, then you could use them with larger 25mm, 28mm, or 32mm/34mm figs without any issues. I suspect some Star Wars, Star Trek, or other Heroclix, or metal minis might be pressed into service. Lately, I've been considering some of these for various uses, e.g. for the old TV series UFO, Traveller, and Bladerunner. Denizen does the Khiff, which might be pressed into service in addition to their other minis. There is a huge range of options if you decide to go with 15mm/18mm figs instead – probably a better choice for more options that may meet your needs. |

Khurasan Miniatures make Kzinti figures, called Felinids, in both 15mm an 28mm. They also make winged lizard figures. Take a look through their various ranges and you may find most of what you are looking for especially in the 15mm ranges. He does have wolf/dog figures called Raugs in his 15mm ranges. link I have uses some of their 15mm figures with the 28mm ones. Since they are aliens they do not have to be as tall as humans. Anvil Industry and Victoria Miniatures make multi-part 28mm resin miniatures. Their lines are mostly interchangeable. While Victoria miniatures makes a beastman head they currently do not have a wolf or dog head. link anvilindustry.co.uk |

You used to occasionally find some of the larger Droyne figs on eBay, but doesn't look like there much if anything in the way of Traveller figs there now, sadly. RAFM has a nice pack of 15mm ones, and I think 15mm scale IS probably the best scale to cover most of what you want, plus more, especially if you want to field more than just a few of each type of faction.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been able to source most of what I need for now. |
