I've just finished reading this new book by Simon Elliott covering the incomplete Roman invasion of Britain and its occupation through to the 5th century AD.
If you would like to see my thoughts on this interesting and enjoyable read then just follow the link to JJ's. link JJ |

Thanks for the book idea and your review! I just "discovered" Simon Elliott and his Casemate Short History "Julius Caesar: Rome's Greatest Warlord" and I very much enjoyed it. I just ordered another book of his "Romans at War: The Roman Military In the Republic and Empire" and am looking forward to receiving it. (I am a little worried about claims of small and light print but I have my magnifying glass). |

Hi chaps and thanks for your comments. Yes the dust jacket lists several of his previous books and he certainly seems quite a prolific writer on the circuit and now having this title under my belt I'm inclined to have a look at some of his others. I'm tempted by his book on the missing IXth Legion which might have some interesting what if's for some game set ups. JJ |

I am about half-way through the book and I thought I would let you know that it is very interesting. I hesitated at first, but I am very happy I received it (as a requested gift). Elliott has become one of my favorite history authors. I like his teaching method used in the book. Thanks for posting your review! |
