Has anyone ever tried painting their castle walls with stone textured spray paint? |

It should work, just make sure you get the color right. |

No, but several years ago at the after Halloween half price sale, I bought a set of small plastic cups with distended skulls on them. My plan was to fill them with sand or something and use them as idols for some sort of game. At the time, I had some of the stone textured spray paint, so I sprayed one of them. I probably should have primed it first, because it didn't stick well at the top of the cup, but aside from that, it doesn't look bad. It is all one color, which isn't much of a problem for an idol that would be about 6 meters tall and 2 meters in diameter for my 28mm figures. For a whole castle, you might want to give some thought to making some of the stones slightly different shades, even though they probably came from the same quarry. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes. Grelber |

I painted the old Battle Masters game's stone tower keep. I used a few colors to pick out certain stones, but most were the same color. I then painted it with a black wash of acrylic paint + water. It turned out decent enough, for me. It was not terribly slow to complete. After that, I went with cardstock castle printouts. I print them on a color laser printer, on full sheet label paper. I apply them to 2mm thick cardboard, cut to size, and then I assemble them using square wooden dowels, gluing the wall sections to the dowels. The dowels make superb, strong corners; they give the model heft, which is much needed. I also glue square dowels across long sections of cardboard, to prevent warping. This is particularly helpful on 8-inch wall sections for my modular castles. The two Siege Towers, and the larger Battering Ram (top right), were all made by cladding laser printouts over 2mm cardboard, as well. The smaller Battering Ram (top center) was made out of 110# card stock, only; it is much more delicate. There are many ways to build a castle, and siege engines, as well. Just food for thought in the grand scheme of things. Cheers! |

I tried it years ago, I remember the flecks being too big for my tastes. Plus don't forget to mask areas you don't want textured. (like the mini I left on the battlements…) :( |

You should just paint them white. Most castles in the Middle Ages were limewashed… |

Thank you all. Palewarrior made me realize there are too many extra details that i would not want sprayed. Wood trims, windows, doors, etc. Its an inn with a lot of stonework. I just should of realized that already. It is tough getting old. |
