Looks the same as their old steam powered fighters. My assumption is the author is not knowledgeable enough to say "Electronic Warfare aircraft".

The aircraft is similar to an EA-18G Growler, which incidentally looks just like an F/A-18E/F, itself a development of the F/A-18A-D which in itself is derived from the 1970s YF-17.

Thresher, Chinese obtained a licence for Du-27s decades ago (initially as J-11 interceptor).

Much like an EA-18G or F-16CJ the key differences are in electronic equipment, not aesthetics.
