Anyone know whatever happened to Wild Geese Miniatures and their 1/200 scale Spanish Civil War range?

GrumpyOldMan28 Sep 2021 3:48 p.m. PST

From memory they were taken over by the Square, no presence currently in the web (https://web.archive.org/web/20100710045435/http://thesquare-wargames.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5) – shows their old page.

Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/The-Square-Wargames-Modelling-388837544922073/) no posts since 2019.

Not a believer in internet sales, mainly went to shows.

Thanks for the info. Too bad as I'd really like to do some SCW gaming in that scale.

Yep, as Grumpy says they went to the Square many years ago. I can't remember if we ever produced them under the Pendraken banner or if that was before we launched.

We've got an extensive range in 10mm now if that would be of interest: link 10mm is around 1:150th so a little bigger than the 1:200th stuff, but there's a lot more available in the 10mm arena these days with things like Pz I's, Ft-17's, etc to add in.

GrumpyOldMan29 Sep 2021 3:09 p.m. PST

Yes agree with Leon, Pendraken has a mighty range of SCW, including AFVs, More and more stuff like aircraft is coming available from other manufacturers like Minarion, etc.

Other funnies are available from Japanese manufacturers like Fairy Kikaku.

However Pendraken provides the bulk and backbone of SCW and Interwar armies in 10mm.

Leon:

Are your figures and foot figures 1/150 or 1/144 scale?

Leon Pendraken Sponsoring Member of TMP01 Oct 2021 12:02 p.m. PST

The figures are made to fit the vehicles so infantry are 10mm to the eye and 11.5mm overall height. At 1:150th scale that makes them around 5ft 8in tall.

At 1:144th scale they'd be 5ft 5in so probably a bit short, but it depends on which 1:144th vehicles you're using? Some are a lot closer to 1:150th than 1:144th…

Thanks, will be sending an order soon.
