Hi all, I wonder if there might be any informal meet ups around West London, where enthusiasts can just turn up on the day for painting sessions/learning how to play wargames? Napoleonics, Colonial, dark ages and ACW have a particular appeal to me as I also lean toward those periods in my own historical research. I'm not a bad painter but am keen to learn more and have never played a game,so would love to try it out. Cheers Ry |

Hi Ry, You could try Dark Sphere in Shepherd's Bush as a starter, as they seem to run quite a few events that could be of interest: darksphere.co.uk/shopSB.php There are a few London clubs listed on the Orc's Nest site that may also be of help: orcsnest.com/clubs.htm Depending on where you are in West London, there is the Heston and Ealing club: link Cheers, Ezza |

Thank you Ezza, I'm in shepherd's bush most days and pass through Ealing often so I'll check those both out. Much appreciated Ry |

I visited dark sphere this evening, THANK YOU! Wonderful, attentive and engaging staff emptied my wallet and we struck up a conversation that will likely lead to a gathering of painters in the store on a regular basis. Cheers Ry |

Ry, Great to know that your visit to Dark Sphere went well. I used to go to their Waterloo store when it was open (it shut down earlier this year, but understand they still have plans to open up in the area again at some point). Agree with your description of the staff, for both the Shepherd's Bush store and the Waterloo store, when it was open. Funny thing is that I also had the occasional bought of empty my wallet-itis when in Dark Sphere. Cheers, Ezza |
