My question is: Who currently makes 10mm A.W.I. figures?

Thanks for any feedback!

I have purchased and painted some myself for a commission, they are delightful.

Old Glory has an AWI range, and Irregular has an 18th century line.

Kallistra also has a good range – I think they tend towards teh big end of 10mm.

JimDuncanUK26 Sep 2021 6:47 a.m. PST

Kallistra are 12mm and are very nice figures which are also cost effective.

Pendraken's range has recently been expanded and is not only extensive but also beautifully sculpted by Clibinarium who sometimes frequents these threads.it is also well illustrated in their catalogue with painted examples.

Shipping from the UK and EU pretty much will kill any order to the US. :(

I 'discovered' Old Glory 10mm ACW almost a year ago and have since painted nearly 5000 of the little fellers!
I wanted to create the David Greenspan look of battlefield:

I also found these from the AWI:

I picked up a couple of bags of the AWI figures with the interest in expanding into this era.
The Civil War troops paint up quickly. I mount two ranks on a 1" square base, so I don't have to detail the backs of the front rank nor the fronts of the rear rank. I can paint one or two regiments (60 figures each) in a day.
The other manufactures' figures are great and I've mixed in Pendragon and Magister Militum figures with no squinting necessary! However, the individual figures (Old Glory line infantry come 5 figures side by side) take longer to process (clean up and mount on painting sticks) than do than the OG figures. Also the painting seems to go at least 3 times as fast on the OG figures.
OG has their soldier discount that you can buy that gives you a 40% discount and I usually get my order within 2 weeks.
Pendragon is available here in the States thru Dark Horse Hobbies, who are fast and reliable. Dark Horse does have a limited selection but they may be able to get your order filled if you don't mind waiting. I haven't tried this but it's worth a shot.
I also got some figures from a Scale Creep Miniatures close-out. Again great and prompt service.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Tens!

I received Pendraken samples a while back and to be honest was not overly impressed. However, I did ask Kalindra and Old Glory for samples and never received a reply.

At some point in the near future I'll just have to place an order for a couple of miniatures to see if I like them.

Oh also, a defunct range which I was highly anticipating before they bellied up was the ODGW or something similar. Tom Dye owns the molds and so far has not started the line back up. I have a couple of their samples and this is the range I would go with if they were in production. Shame.

Good Luck.

The Pendraken figures are a really great range full of life and a joy to paint. Would recommend them to any one.

Wow Huron, if those Pendraken samples were from the AWI range you have incredibly high standards!

JimDuncanUK27 Sep 2021 11:32 a.m. PST

All my 10mm collections, I have a few, are Pendraken.

I wouldn't buy 10mm from anyone else.

Shoot me an email if you'd like some samples sending out Tom: link

A little late here, but got one comment. Andymac you can paint sir! those are VERY nice figures.

In all fairness to Pendraken, I did eventually finish my samples and have to admit under paint they look pretty damn good.

Probably going to order a couple units to see how they paint up and look massed.

AuttieCat,
We are in the very same State and all OG figs are made, molded, and cast here in the United States with American labor.

@d88mm1940

I love those pictures. I have bot the AWI and ACW books.

I guess that I should have made my question a little bit clearer: That is who makes 10mm A.W.I. figures here in the states or can direct me to a U.S. distributor of 10mm figures from outside the Continental U.S.A. or if an international (meaning out of the U.S.A.) eats the rediculous postal charges of international (including the U.S. Federal Postal Service) of international postal charges!

Also, 'Greenknight4 and those other few'---what does your comments have to do with my initial question?

Sincerely,
Tom Semian

Old Skool Gamer,

That is not what I meant. For the life of me, I would never dare think that any international manufacture would sell/ship figures and eat any kind of profits.

I WAS KIDDING WHEN I STATED THE ABOVE! I guess either once again I did not think my statement entirely through or you can't tell sarcasm when it hits you in the face!
Sincerely,
Tom Semian

Odd question.

I want AWI figures 10-15mm. Early war, especially for the Continentals. I plan on mixing uniformed troops with hunting shirt troops.

I know OG has hunting shirt guys. But their Continentals in uniform look later war.

If so, would I be able to use British figures? I doubt the lace on their button holes would show up at this scale?

Thanks for any help.
