Apparently the 90 year old William Shatner is in talks with Jeff Bezos to be on the passenger list for the next Blue Origin (is that the name?) flight.
The only real question is which uniform he should wear.
1. The Old School yellow long sleeved tee shirt that always look wrinkled
Or
2. The classy later red one that looked like it was stolen from a Polish Lancer

The crucial word "wear" was left out for space considerations.

I'm thinking the red would look better at this point.

whitejamest24 Sep 2021 12:34 p.m. PST

At 90, I'm thinking a generous envelope of bubble wrap.

Thresher0124 Sep 2021 12:47 p.m. PST

TOS of course, in his classic green motif to denote his rank.

Hades wolf24 Sep 2021 1:12 p.m. PST

I say whatever he wants to wear?

"To boldy go!" and all that is only fitting for James Tiberius Kirk

Classic, IMO. The publicity surrounding this will be killer! Cheers!

TOS. I was never under the impression that the movie uniforms were "classy"--or that anything they did with all that time and money could stand beside the first two seasons of classic Trek.

A uniform which fits properly…

No matter what he wears, it will come back torn.

He should wear a spacesuit.
But it should be yellow on top and black on the bottom, with Kirk's classic insignia and rank stripes.

Hades wolf24 Sep 2021 11:02 p.m. PST

NCC-1717 for the win!

TOS with, as already suggested, a tasteful rip in one shoulder. Possibly with a green alien lady on the other arm in a tinfoil miniskirt who doesn't know what kissing is?

I assumed that if Shatner was launched into space at ths point it would be in an urn.

I'm with Hades wolf.

Oh yes NCC1717

gunnerphil25 Sep 2021 1:01 p.m. PST

Not sure what he should wear, I strongly suggest rest of crew avoid red shirts

altfritz25 Sep 2021 1:51 p.m. PST

Who does Bezos think he is? Launching people into space is the Emperor Ming's prerogative!

No, gotta go with TOS uniform, or at least that really sharp number from the 2nd Movie.

Otherwise, if this actually happens--and Bill gets back in good shape (with or without a torn shoulder piece), this will cement his place and ST in the future history of spaceflight.

Assuming that's not already assured.

You know, it almost seems that TOS was a time traveler to the 1960's and we've been "Skynetting" the artifacts ever since.

"Shatner is in talks with Jeff Bezos to be on the passenger list for the next Blue Origin (is that the name?) flight"

Does Bezos have a rocket that can lift that much weight…? ;-)

Gorgrat26 Sep 2021 12:05 p.m. PST

Considering his reputation, I think a prophylactic would be all he'd need.

The new Space Command Uniform – for photo ops and acceptance by the public.

The classy red one. The TOS uniform would NOT be a good look on the overweight 90 year old. The red one can cover a multitude of sins.

…depends…
