Don Juan of Austria was a magnificent admiral and general who is sadly underappreciated in our modern Anglo centric scholarship. Lepanto is his best known victory, but not by any means his only one.

I wonder how much of a different place the world would be had he lived longer.

And very fine looking vessels! I prefer larger ships in this period, as even at Lepanto and despite the presence of the galleases, hand to hand combat was still arguably decisive, but I can certainly understand the desire to focus on the fleet as a whole.

Impressive looking fleet. Like the striped sails. They will look quite nice battling it out with the Muslim fleets of Barbarossa and company!
