with the Perry Prussian plastic boxes out I was looking at getting into the FPW, but on the low end (skirmish) so I got to Eagles of Empire site and looked at their rulebook and did some searching for reviews which seemed OK however, it seems you need unit cards for the stats of your troops and these are only available in the unit boxes they sell smells like Apple to me Alex |

It is a shame, postage within the UK is very high! They are nice figures and I have a few in my Armies, sadly they only sell in packs of 16, ok for my French but my Prussians are in 20s. To be frank I dont need any more, but will get a Divs worth of French when Perry release them! Tally Ho! |

Hi nickinsomerset, not only postage is high, also import taxes enter the game EOA are not under IOSS VAT scheme so a box of £25.00 GBP add's rougly £8.00 GBP taxes, £12.00 GBP for P&P and £20.00 GBP handling fee for Belgian Post for collecting said taxes or a total of £65.00 GBP for 16 figures compared to €20.00 EUR + €5.00 EUR P&P from a European Vendor for my box of Prussians with 39 Perry minis my choice is quickly made however my frustration is that their rules seem OK but you MUST buy their figures to be aible to play it, unit cards only available in combination with figures Alex |

@pogoame, You can make your own cards. The rules show examples as do photos of the products in some cases. True they won't be the nice EoE cards but you could still play the rules. I'll be looking to get some Perry or Foundry bits to add to my EoE stuff. |

I was under the impression that EoE were EU based? Their phone number has a Denmark prefix although it does say on their website that the figures are produced in the UK. Maybe they have an EU distributer? Have you purchased a copy of the rules? I would be interested to know how they play as I too have been contemplating skirmish games with the new Perry Miniatures. |

@shadoe01 are you sure all the info to make the necessary cards is in the rule book ? as far as I can tell from reviews that is not the case had a chat on the AoE website about this problem, they did not mention that I do not need the cards and that everything is in the rules, they even specifically stated "We are a smaller business than the Perry bros, so if we started to sell our rules and everyone bought Perry plastic, you would not have our miniatures on the market one year from now, due to mass produced plastic." so what they are doing is very intentional and it would surprise me if all the necessary unit info is in the rule book so I will not pay £15.00 GBP for a useless/incomplete pdf rule book they suggested buying there starter set which is £99.00 GBP UK Tax included (and no way to get rid of UK tax) If I do that it will be £99.00 GBP + £23.00 GBP import taxes + £20.00 GBP handling fee or £142.00 GBP for 32 figs and the rulebook (still as pdf) so how much do you think they will sell outside the UK ? anyone suggestions for other FPW skirmish games that are affordable (and good is possible :) ) ? Alex |

@Wargamorium they clearly state on their website "Eagles of Empire Miniatures are produced, picked and packed in the UK." so being in Belgium I pay UK tax, import tax and handling fee or a simple 40% bonus :( Alex ps I see you are also in Belgium ? |

Alex, there are some examples in the rules books. Also some of their products show the cards – e.g., French Hussars. So, you can play the rules with stats derived from what's shown in the rules / on the website or with your own stats. For example, no card is shown for the Prussian jagers but it wouldn't be too hard to come up with something appropriate. The biggest issue for your own stats would be unit cost as that's a big part of the game. FYI – so far I have the intro package of 32 French and 32 Prussian infantry, Bavarians, Zoaves/Turcos, French cuiassiers and von Bredow but I am mad. Still it's a small operation, unlike Apple, so I'm happy to support it. FYI – there's a couple of good YouTube videos on the rules. Have you seen them? |

new info from EoE from their chat box "The boxes sold in EU shops from inside the EU, so you will not pay any import tax. Shipping is free on the starter set. Our EU warehouse is in Denmark It will be delivered with ensure and tracking to your home address for 99 pound all incl" still remains the problem that to play their rules you must buy their figures, what i called a closed environment Alex |

@wargamorium yes they do but no starter set so no rules see my previous message, apparently they ship from Denmark for European customers problem remains that I have troops but no rules yet :( |

Well maybe the solution is to hunt around for another ruleset. I was thinking that maybe Bolt Action principles could be adapted for FPW skirmish level games. No Crisis this year again unfortunately so we have to wait until February for Warcon. Brexit was a disaster for us wargamers in Belgium. |
