US is considering offloading incompatible Iron Dome systems to Ukraine.

The issue with Iron Dome in US service is it doesn't work with other elements of US defence network – you think they would have figured this out before they spent over $1 USD billion dollars on it.

Of course they are. That's what swamp dwellers in government do. Let's pull air defense batteries out of Saudi Arabia, further giving advantage in the balance of power in the Middle East to Iran and at the same time let's poke the bear just because we can. Now that Afghanistan is "over", the military industrial complex needs new customers.

The same folks who scream for the U.S. to pull out of Europe and for the Europeans to pay for their own defense cry bloody murder when we expect a fabulously wealthy family firm disguised as a country to pay for its own defense.

Seems to me that they should figure out how to integrate it and make it work, since it is obviously a good system.

If that's too expensive, I hope we are working on something with similar tech that is compatible, but that may be too much to ask.

I remember when 9/11 occurred, many of our emergency comms systems were incompatible with one another, creating a lot of issues, and many/most of the cell towers went down to, being on the twin-towers.

They were supposed to be working on the issue, to improve things, but last I heard just a few years ago, there were still a lot of problems, so I would NOT be surprised to find that the issue still remains.

I would hope so … but I'd think the US would have figured out how it interfaced with current US systems, etc., before buying it ? As already has been pointed out.

The USA used the C-RAM system for an Iron Dome type weapon as late as at Kabul Airport. A few weeks ago. IIRC this was used at Bagram before the horrific decision to give it up was made. To the Taliban and now maybe even the PRC will occupy it.

I'd imagine these could be given to the Ukrainians as well ? If Iron Dome had interface problems there too.
