After looking at the rules, I don't see any penalty for pivoting, etc. (though I have been known to miss the obvious). Is there? Can they move in reverse without penalty? Of course, if there is no penalty for pivoting, one could do a 180 turn move than complete turn with another 180 – in effect backing up. Help appreciated |

I am afraid I do not have my 8th edition books at hand, so cannot check them. Besides the Empire book, you may or may not need to check also the main rulebook, depending on which unit type the steam tank is defined as – was it a chariot in the 8th edition or something else? I have to admit that steam tanks are not really my favourite unit type, so I may have some trouble remembering details about their rules, which tended to vary quite a bit from edition to another. |

Defo defined as a chariot in the Empire book. |

That sort of answers the question then, I guess. That said, at the moment I cannot check my absurdly big red rulebook to see how chariots exactly manoeuvre in 8th edition. That said, if you bring a steam tank into a game, isn't half of the fun the ability to shout "Full steam ahead!" every turn? Retiring from the enemy is nowhere as dramatic (though may ensure that your steam tanks survives a bit longer). |
