Here are more pictures of my GHQ Russian infantry. I have now completed 1 rifle company and have the start of another one. The company HQ stand in the front of the group shot is "on loan" from my already completed SMG company which I painted a number of years ago.

Wow! They look great!
What color did you use for the uniforms? Thanks John |

Ditto what John said, my 6mm Russians that I've painted so far don't pop like that at all. Yours look great, would love to see your paint scheme or method. |

Great work! Agree with the above – how did you get the detail to pop on those little Ivans? |

Just another million to go! Great job, mine are lacking. |

You really kind of missed on the ratio of Azerbaijanis, Uzbekis and Turkmen to the number of Slavs and Causasians -- at the level of the rifle company you should really try to get a better mix of ethnicities among the privates -- and please no more Tartar officers! (Puts on helmet and ducks for cover…) I'm KIDDING guys! But really, with the level of detail you've managed to achieve it almost is a matter of judging the parentage of the figures you've painted. Or even their moods. Great stuff, Pete! Inspiring! -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Really gorgeous work. Do you have a site where you post more photos? Your posts on TMP are pushing me dangerously close to a GHQ order… |

Thank you all very much! John Leahy, I used Humbrol #84 Middlestone as my uniform base color. On some of them, I added a bit of #34 Matt White to the mix to provide a more faded look. The Lonely Salaryman and Frederick, I use a turpentine blackwash to make the figures pop a bit more. I put this one the figures, let dry for a couple hours or so, and then go over with some clear turpentine to get any wash off the raised surfaces and into the recesses. I do not do any highlighting or drybrushing on these figures. When I do the detail painting, I also try to have some contrast between the basic uniform and the various accoutrements that the troops have on them. whitejamest, I have several 6mm Facebook sites that I post on. I am a moderator and "group expert" on a site called: 1/285th Scale Military Modeling of ALL ERAS. I just posted some late War German infantry on that site. There are several other sites that cater to 6mm figures and gaming. Sorry Mark 1 for not quite getting those ethnic ratios with proper skin tones. LOL! I actually painted up a Modern U.S. MRAP Combat Command back in 2011 which included infantry. I did paint them up with some variations in the skin tones for that one. Sadly, GHQ no longer makes most of their Combat Commands. Thanks very much! |
