I am repeatedly reminded of the the story at the end of the movie "Charlie Wilson's War" told by the CIA operative that figures out how to help the Afghans fight the Russians and asks Congressman Wilson's help.

I think the Taliban/AQ love affair with Iran is still in the developing stage. But they both are muslim so they got that going for them. But one being Shia and one Sunni. It may be a shot gun wedding.
