I got myself a resin 3D printer (an Elegoo Mars 2) and have been experimenting with upscaling models to 54mm (army men scale) and printing them. These are my most recent attempts (Star Wars and Halo troops) and I'm pretty happy with them:
And here's some pictures comparing them to other 54mm sci-fi troops like Star Wars Command: imgur.com/a/xKc0F2k |

They are nice looking! I find there is also something interesting about the printed figures as they come from the printer with all those support rods. They look sort of like they are in jail and you have to free them. Grelber |

Thanks Frederick and Grelber! And yes, haha, hadn't thought of it in that way with the support rods but now that you mention it… |

Matter of time before everyone shifts to 3d. |

Just need to fix the fragility problem. They break very easily. |

Wow, those are fantastic looking. |

Excellent job; very serviceable & look to be easy to paint. |

Thanks guys! And yeah, as for fragility, I want to experiment with different resin types, because I've seen some that print out very flexible, almost like plastic. |

I have some 3D printed HO scale tanks that are so hard I can't sand the striations off. The barrels are strong and I find them much more durable than regular model kits. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

a resin 3D printer "an Elegoo Mars 2" There seem to be a wild variation using that title. Can you narrow it down with a model number or something? Thanks. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Hey Mike, nice! What kind of resin are they printed in do you know? As for my printer, it's the Mars 2 model (not the "Mars 2 Pro" which is slightly different and more expensive for, my mind, not a lot of improvement) from a company called Elegoo. Here's an Amazon link: amzn.to/3iiC8aM |

What type of resin do you use? |

14thNJ, I use Elegoo ABS-like Gray resin. It's pretty good but I may explore some more flexible resin types in the future as it's a bit brittle (though no more than most model resins, just more so than flexible plastic). |
