Yes, we can never forget this attack targeting non-combatants. They are teaching the kids in schools to not call those terrorist … well terrorists … they came up with some woke word. And don't say anything about American Exceptionalism. We are not that great, to them I guess.

Personally I will always remember and never forget. We have killed many jihadi leaders & minions. With A'stan now becoming a terrorist paradise we should continue drone strikes once we get everybody out.

We can't trust the Taliban and their ally AQ. Some in the Taliban and AQ leadership have prices on their head. They and ISIS-K should become nothing but targets. With all that scum dead the world would be better off without them. And they can burn in Hell …

I'll agree that it did change the world, but not in a good way. It made people afraid instead of angry. 20 years ago, people were willing to give up some freedoms for perceived security, and they are doing it again.

But that's ok, I've read the Bible, I know how it ends and it looks like everything is progressing according to plan.

Legion 4,other than Virginia are there state Departments of Education calling for the use of extremists rather than terrorists?

Thresher0110 Sep 2021 12:52 p.m. PST

It did change it, and fortunately we've had 20 years with few major attacks, and none on the scale of the original.

I fear that 9/11/21 will change all that for the worse, given recent decisions and vectors, and we will again see an uptick in attacks on our homeland, since many don't seem to have learned the lessons from 20 years ago.

9/11 lead to Joe Biden 20 years later.

Based on all that is going on this may be the start of a "trend". Like we see with CRT, 1619, etc. More schools are teaching that or a version of it. The terrorists vs. extremist paradigm will more likely become more common if it has not all ready. There is already a video on the topic on how to teach this paradigm. But I guess that must only be for Virginia … link

9/11 lead to Joe Biden 20 years later.

I am thinking about the victims and the people who tried to save them. Very sad…

The years that have followed have been pretty secure. Except… Lincoln said it best:

"At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."

It changed America, and possibly those attacked in retaliation; but the world is a bit of a stretch. Most of the rest of the world was already used to terrorist attacks of one kind or another.

American youth became more ignorant and self centered…. But I doubt that was the cause.

The future will see if rearming the Taliban is a good idea.

Tortorella +1 I agree … we can't forget the dead.

American youth became more ignorant and self centered
Yep … you can't not see that …

The future will see if rearming the Taliban is a good idea.
Good idea or not … they are a very well armed light motorized Infantry force with a little FA/MBTs/APCs support. Even a small air force …

Of course none of that will stand up to Drones with Hellfires. Some may think the war is over, but AQ, ISIS, etc., do not.

Escapee Supporting Member of TMP11 Sep 2021 10:38 a.m. PST

I doubt anyone thinks rearming the Taliban is a good idea or that it was a deliberate choice.

I don't think 9/11 is about kids becoming ignorant. It is about courage and sacrifice.

Things did change. Bin Laden is gone. But I think this kind of war does not really end. We began to fight each other within a decade and cannot stop. This is what our enemies have seen – 9/11 was the last time we were united.

The USA leadership just saved the PRC/CCP, Putin, etc., the trouble.

It is about courage and sacrifice.
I'm afraid many in the USA young or old have no real concept of those words …

Bin Laden is gone.

And at least 2 of his sons

ISIS's Baghdadi … gone

Iran's Suilimani … gone

Many, many others of these terrorist/jihadi leaders & minions.

But I think this kind of war does not really end.
No it is not over. These 7th Century savages still hate us for who we are, our life style, religions, and of course our support of Israel.

We think their being wedded the Sharia Law, etc. Makes them inhuman in our minds.

As long as they threaten us the war will not be over. Yes we have killed many of these terrorist/jihadis. But as long as they threaten us we should do our best to eliminate that threat. Often & in large numbers. If they make more we will have to kill them too. We have a lot drones and high tech ordinance

Escapee Supporting Member of TMP11 Sep 2021 6:29 p.m. PST

Legion, I agree with all you say. It is hard for us to imagine how strong the feeling against us is with these people. We can never let down out guard.

Much of the change since 9/11 is technical. Our tech capacity is likely much greater than the public knows about, and presumably plays an effective role in our threat assessment protocols, which are sophisticated and detailed.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2021 9:32 a.m. PST

Agree with you as well. We can't get lazy, we have to be proactive. IMO if proactive means a drone strike or two we need to take the shot(s). We just have to be sure who the target(s) is. And always attempt to limit CD. However if the Taliban leadership especially the 4 Obama released from Gitmo, we should be prepared to take them out. We have to let them know leaders are a target and we will get them like we did others. They are terrorist/jihadis, they only understand strength. They need to fear us …

And yes our tech has increased many times over in 20 years … with much being classified.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2022 8:30 a.m. PST

Another 9/11 … We can't forget.

In the long run it cost "them" much more than us. But still too many innocents have died. Like always …
