…Afghanistan "Tajikistan was the only one of Afghanistan's neighbors that did not engage in talks with the Taliban prior to the militant group's conquest of most of Afghanistan. Dushanbe kept quiet about events in Afghanistan before the fall of Kabul and for many days after, but when Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on August 25, Rahmon said his country would not recognize a Taliban government that did not include representatives from minority groups, naming specifically Afghanistan's Tajik population. But even before Rahmon's comments, there were signs that Tajikistan did not welcome the Taliban's successes in Afghanistan and was loathe to ever engage with the Afghan militant group…" link Main page link

They shouldn't, nor should anyone else, since 4 of the 5 positions are filled by terrorists freed by Obama for the traitor, Bergdahl (10 year TMP rule invoked here). |

Good … hopefully more is do the same. However, UN food trucks, etc., are driving into A'stan to feed the people, etc. Yes, as the Taliban are terrorists with some in their leadership with millions of dollars of bounty on their heads. So they really don't know how to run anything but a jihadi mob to rape & kill. When we finally get everybody out of that hole. Thank God for our former & Ret. Spec Ops Vets ! Those 4 jihadis who Obama let out of Gitmo in the Taliban "gov't" any many others in their leadership, etc. I hope we have Reaper Drone with Hellfires with those jihadis names on them. The world would be better off without these jihadi scum … |

Sadly, it seems our government has cut a deal, and it's just being covered up, since otherwise things would have been a lot worse during the final pullout I imagine. Their leadership is getting more favorable press and treatment than Americans who want to exercise their constitutional freedoms. Also, I've been reading headlines like "the world" must keep Afghanistan from turning into a humanitarian crisis, and I am really wondering why, after spending $2 USD TRILLION there to support it over the last 20 years. It appears no amount of money can keep their society from reverting back to the 7th Century. The Talis are in charge, so let them run and, and hopefully fail at it. If they're scrambling to find food and water, and to grow and export their opium and hashish, then that leaves less time for plotting to blow up and/or kill by other means, Westerners. |

Well you know the PRC/CCP, Putin, Iran, etc., are/will jump on the Taliban bandwagon. And A'stan is already a humanitarian crisis. It's like a money pit … no matter how much one spends or one can do for them. It's like places in Africa, little seems to change. |

Your neighbors know you best. Sure you can go get a cup of sugar or milk from a good neighbor ! If you are baking a cake ! Everybody likes Cake !!!! Russia has sent troops to every former soviet east asian nation that fears an islamic extremist incursion. Of course, but in the long run won't stop Putin from doing a little biz with the Taliban. Still, already, again … whatever. But with ISIS … the Russians better keep some troops at the ready in Tajikistan. After all to ISIS everybody is an infidel … so in turn a target … |

I think I will have a sardonic sneer watching events in that neck of the … hills for the next few years. Nobody can predict what will happen, and if you think you can, you're a fool. No "personal attack" intended here. |

I got the "your neighbors know you best" line from Ed Koch. He was being opposed in the primaries by Bella Abzug for his second term as Hizzoner da Mayor in NYC. She lost in her own precinct (district?). So Ed said… |

Sorry OFM, you are wrong, it IS fairly easy to predict. There WILL be a lot more killing in the country and region there, and it has already begun. Some things never change. Seems to me like it is a national "sport", and if you think that is an exaggeration, I've read that they play a kind of polo in the region with the heads they lop off their enemies. This has reported as being done in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, and supposedly dates back to the practice in Genghis Khan's day. |

Can you predict who will be in charge in a year? Five years? |
Legion 4 | 12 Sep 2021 9:37 a.m. PST |
Nobody can predict what will happen, and if you think you can, you're a fool. Not if I can predict the Lottery numbers ! 😁 Can you predict who will be in charge in a year? Five years? No one can but with the available data, etc., we can make a very educated guess/SWAG. Intel does this sort of thing all the time … but yes … being humans, even using algorithms, etc,. we can be wrong … |
John the OFM | 12 Sep 2021 10:03 a.m. PST |
I think we've agreed in the past that Intel is only as good as the end user uses it. You can lead a horse to water….. …..but if you get him to float on his back, you've accomplished something. And that's the problem with the end users. They want the horse to do the back stroke. |

"Can you predict who will be in charge in a year? Five years?". Nice try, but that is NOT your original statement, which was "Nobody can predict what will happen…..". I have predicted it, and am being proven right, daily. |

I think we've agreed in the past that Intel is only as good as the end user uses it. You can lead a horse to water….. Yes, we just saw that happen recently in A'stan. Ignoring intel was the first one of many errors. |
