Do you typically keep a beverage at hand while painting miniatures?

rustymusket09 Sep 2021 1:08 p.m. PST

I generally have a glass of drinking water nearby. (out of reach of paint brush accidents)

advocate09 Sep 2021 1:25 p.m. PST

No

Son of MOOG09 Sep 2021 1:28 p.m. PST

Yes, always, usually coffee or ice tea.

Rich Bliss09 Sep 2021 1:31 p.m. PST

No

FearAndLoathing09 Sep 2021 1:43 p.m. PST

I find that wetting the brush with beer tends to degrade the quality of the paint

Personal logo ColCampbell Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2021 2:00 p.m. PST

No, too much danger in dipping paint brush in drink or trying to drink the brush wash water.

Titchmonster09 Sep 2021 2:17 p.m. PST

Yep. Mountain Dew

mckrok Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2021 2:21 p.m. PST

No, never tried painting while drunk. I'm hoping in my retirement, when I get to partake in edible materials for the first time in 30 years, that it might actually improve my skills.

Nearly always have a mug of tea on hand wbile painting. Occasionally an adult beverage, but that's rare.

KSmyth09 Sep 2021 4:07 p.m. PST

Often. Usually Diet Coke, occasionally beer.

Chimpy09 Sep 2021 4:10 p.m. PST

I sometimes have a glass of water handy which is distinguishable from the dirty grey sludge used for brush cleaning.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2021 4:16 p.m. PST

No.

jdpintex09 Sep 2021 4:35 p.m. PST

Always. Sometime just water, sometimes a whisky, port or glass of wine.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP09 Sep 2021 4:49 p.m. PST

There is absolutely no issue with dipping my brush in my beer mug, since my brush water is in a discolored old Tupperware dish.

thosmoss09 Sep 2021 5:06 p.m. PST

Coffee in the a.m. …
Wine in the p.m. …

Revolving Prohibition was a victory to be celebrated.

The Last Conformist10 Sep 2021 1:38 a.m. PST

Usually not. Sometimes I have a cup of tea, but then I tend to forget it.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 1:57 a.m. PST

Coffee

Personal logo Yellow Admiral Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 2:32 a.m. PST

Yes: beer, whiskey, brandy, tea, coffee, soda, water, whatever. There's usually something around.

Prince Rupert of the Rhine10 Sep 2021 3:27 a.m. PST

Coffee in the winter and evenings. Diet coke, with ice, on those hot summer days. Alcohol and figure painting don't seem like a good idea considering what a light weight I am these days…

Lascaris10 Sep 2021 6:34 a.m. PST

Sure, coffee in the morning and might have a glass of wine if I'm painting at night. Always have water handy.

Personal logo Sgt Slag Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 8:59 a.m. PST

Sometimes, but not consistently. Depends upon whether I am thirsty, or not, while painting. Cheers!

dapeters10 Sep 2021 9:52 a.m. PST

My problem is cold drinks get warm and hot drinks get cold

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 12:18 p.m. PST

Usually water. Sometimes soda or Red Bull.

Personal logo Murphy Sponsoring Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 12:55 p.m. PST

Ues, voffee, water, or beer.

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 5:40 p.m. PST

Water, sometimes coffee. Never alcohol while, painting.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP10 Sep 2021 6:59 p.m. PST

One dram occasionally to steady the hand. Anything more and painting is over.

CeruLucifus12 Sep 2021 1:58 a.m. PST

I'm positive this has been posted before.

Yes sure. The challenge is using different containers so the beverage is not mixed up with the rinse water.

ScoutJock12 Sep 2021 2:03 p.m. PST

Nothing helps me paint freehand camouflage better than a couple of beers first…

I think it moderates the perfectionist in me somewhat.

Personal logo John the OFM Supporting Member of TMP12 Sep 2021 8:30 p.m. PST

From what I've seen of actual field painting of camouflage, they weren't exactly perfectionists either.

rampantlion14 Sep 2021 7:39 a.m. PST

I'll almost always have an iced tea. I don't drink any alcohol while painting, but I do get plenty of time for a cold beer.

huron725 Supporting Member of TMP20 Feb 2022 1:26 p.m. PST

During the work week no, but when the weekend rolls around oh Yeah!

MrZorro31 Mar 2022 2:42 p.m. PST

Oh yes, a beer or two never hurts.
