As long as they fight among themselves that's OK with me. But as we see that is always not the case. Looks like BH in that region may/will be doing what the Taliban has/is doing in A'stan. Sooner of later … More jihadis … just what the world needs … |

Maybe if the politicians in those countries were less corrupt and intent on plundering their countries' wealth or oppressing pretty much anyone who isn't in the ruling tribe and more focused on improving lives of their citizens, then the islamists would have far less recruits. Eg Mali – French sponsored government oppressed Tuareg minority for decades. Tuargs have rebelled many times without success.
Once clever clogs in NATO destroyed Libya the Tuareg's found new allies in form of Islamists. Oh and the irony of Mauritania being worried about jihadis is beyond hilarious.
This country is so stuck in 7th century interpretations of Islam they still practice mass slavery (nominally illegal since 2007 but the laws are ignored), rape is endemic, women's legal rights are as per Sharia and the whole legal system is entrenched in fundamental Islam other than some unenforced laws that are ignored. Religious freedom does not exist.
