Today we had another 7 Years War game using my own rules. It was another fun day!

The write up is on my blog at this link

Great battle and hard cheese for the Prussians – as to what it takes to rout the Russians, I quote "you can't just kill them, you have to knock them down"

Nice looking figures.

Would multiple cavalry units, in the era of rigid adherence to formal formations, really have popped into the nearest woods?
Just asking…

Hi SHaT1984: I agree, not normally, but the woods in the game are light woods, not as difficult as the terrain Von Seydlitz traversed at Zorndorf IIRC.
The period frequently had battles where a defending force deployed where an attacker had to deploy in less than idea terrain. In many ways I feel the idea of battles with neat lines in open fields is rarer than most people think during the Seven Years War.

The game often puts nasty terrain in the limited deployment areas, but we don't mind, as troops are soon out of it. It just slows deployment a bit.

Herky I think that if I were a Prussian soldier I might not want to fight for you, they seem to loose hard and often.

Gotta start using those "special dice" (wink, wink, nudge nudge, and Bob's yer uncle)
