I recently re-read "Lord Kalvan" and briefly thought of gaming it, but quickly decided that I already had enough unpainted figures. Then, low and behold, in a pile of rules and magazines too cheap to pass up, I find a copy of "Down Styphon!" at a con. You can certainly tell it is a product of the 70s. link |

The forthcoming publication of Renatio et Gloriam might kick my butt hard enough to finally start gaming those wars of Kalvan in Hostigos… |

I have a copy, it has been a back burner project for 30 years. Pikeman's Lament might be an approach. Down Styphon is a good source book |

I had the rules back in the early 70s, even became friendly with John Carr who took over writing the books. Even for the era, the rules were a bit dense as I recall. |

Great book and I have the rules but have not used them. Given all the extra Late Ren figures unpainted I have it might be a good idea. Hip, hip hurrah for Hos-Hostigos and King Kalvan! |

Interesting enough the latest book, 2016 vintage, by John Carr is named "Down Styphon!" I may have to actually get some minis to play this. I've had the rules for 40 years or so… |
