Is there anything out there for mass combat involving zombies? I mean hundreds of zombies on the table -- not individual zombies and individual dice rolling -- but, rather, 4-5 zombies on a stand. Civilian stands would have 1 to 5 figures, who will probably be based on skill level. So, maybe a hero type figure would be individually mounted, while a mass of screaming civilians might be 4 or 5 figures.

Anything thoughts, or anything out there? I am kind of thinking HOTT might work.

So a zombie apocalypse survival game but on a large scale?
Sort of an initial outbreak, mass panic, '28 Weeks Later' kind of game?

I'd convert the Exploit Zero/Nightwatch dice mechanics to stands of multiple miniatures, then make the individual heroes solo Agents with an action dice pool.

Yes, an initial outbreak with plenty of people still running around wondering what to do.

I am not familiar with Exploit Zero/Nightwatch.

What about Dragon Rampant? It's fantasy but includes recyclable-horde types already. It includes wizards, and a hero would be easy to stat up.

It assumes single mounting but I do Zulus in 6mm where one stand = 2 figures.

2e BattleSystem, $4.99 USD for the PDF. It is mass battles, one Zombie represents 10 Zombies, while heroes are 1:1 ratio. Zombies, being Undead, trigger Morale Checks when they get close to non-hero figures. Not much adaptation required, it has stats for peasants and Zombies. Morale is critical in the rule system.

The rules are comprehensive. You can use them for much more than just Zombie mass battles. Cheers!

Good ideas. Thanks. The Yonkers battle looks great.

Yes, HOTT would work. The latest version of HOTT (v2.1) has sample army lists for "Generic Zombies", "Forces of Law and Order", and "Post-Apocalypse Survivors".
