We played our first FUBAR VSF game in quite a while, yep I got the TSOG guys to play a game last Monday!

British and German forces came to grips during the Great Steam wars of the 1880's! Chateaux 'X' had drawn the attention of nearby British and German Forces. English Lord Arfwitt in command of the the 22nd Steam Assault Detachment and German Oberst Oinker leading the 3rd Grenadier Gruppe faced off on the battlefield.

The Germans deployed with a strong right wing and their elite Jagers ready to lead the assault. The British placed their troops on a broad front with their Guard Grenadiers in the reserve. Both sides expected reinforcements of Steam Powered Armoured Wagons and Artillery.

Both sides advanced aggressively the British skewing their advance toward the dead ground behind Chateaux 'X' where as the German continued their attack on all along the line!

The Armoured Wagons of both sides advanced along the road and in a confused firefight interspersed with Breakdown Events a draw ensued, only the Germans ended up with one fully functioning machine but it faced two British vehicles one damaged and one other bogged.

While the armour clash both sides infantry drew closer to the Chateaux and each other. Initially the British had the better of the exchange of fire but the Germans turned the Chateaux's front the into a killing field and two British Units were hammered by them.

During the last two turns the British artillery came into play pushing back two German Units and the fresh British Grenadier Guard Unit defeated all the Germans facing them and they then pressed forwards!

At this point the action with the Germans wavering ended. It was a British triumph, they scored 54 Victory Points to Germans 34!

Some pictures from the game…

The first German Steam Powered Armoured Wagon to arrive coordinated closely with the Infantry!

The British move forward carefully shielding their reserve, elite Guard Grenadiers armed with the latest repeating rifles and grenade launchers with a Naval Unit..

The Steam Powered Armoured Wagons duked it out while in the background both sides Infantry advanced bravely!

Despite taking losses the British gunners toiled and their work reaped rewards, they broke two German Units pushing them back out of the VP area of the Battlefield!

The final dispositions around Chateaux 'X'! These are the figures/vehicles that earned the sides VPs, the British are to the right and Germans to the left, the silver disks indicate casualties these clearly show where the British Grenadier Guardsmen inflicted telling losses on the Germans!
