In a post-apocalyptic world in which drivers fight in cars, what form of car-combat most interests you for the miniature wargaming tabletop? * combat sports (i.e., SJG's Autoduel) * gang warfare in the urban streets * gang warfare in the wastelands etc. |

The only one I ever played was Car Wars with cardboard counters. I can't remember the setting though. |

Car Wars is a large universe, and you can play almost any kind of car-combat scenario in that setting. (I worked on a few Car Wars products, back in the day.) |

Still have my original Ziploc bagged Car Wars, but Gaslands is definitely race leader at the moment…great game with a really creative community behind it. |

1) Arena Combat: link 2) I used to play great Road Warrior (assault/protect the HVU) games with MechWarrior bikes, trikes, ATVs and supply vechiles. In fact, I have a bit under construction to enhance this games. |

Sports — Racing Current preferred format is Wacky Max 1968 (played with Maximillian 1934 rules and modified 1/72-ish plastic cars from the Wacky Races board game). YouTube link |

In a post-apocalyptic setting, with limited resources, I don't really see regular car-to-car combat making much sense. Cars are large, noisy and vulnerable targets that consume plenty of fuel and have limited mobility anywhere outside good roads. On the other hand, trying to shoot at targets while in a moving car also tends to affect accuracy negatively (a bit of an issue when ammo supplies are not unlimited). In a dystopian future, where resources are more plentiful than common sense and life is cheap, some form of gladiatorial arena sport to entertain masses might be somewhat credible. In such a situation, there would probably be major limitations on powerful long range weaponry (making for potentially short games and high spectator casualties). For maximum "entertainment" value and proctracted clashes weaponry should perhaps be limited to thrown and close combat weapons, possibly with various close assault implements mounted on the vehicles themselves. |

I've still got my Games Workshop "Dark Future: The Game of Highway Warriors" (their bid for the Mad Max genre game) for which I bought a lot of extra vehicles & figures (still unassembled & unpainted). I think that we played it twice & I don't recall why we drove away from it. |
