Please see link for details of a refight of part of the Battle of Trebbia, using Baccus 6mm figures and the Polemos Ruse de Guerre rules.

I'm sure you enjoyed it, but single model gun batteries still just look silly at this scale.
I use 2-3 bases in 25mm, why shouldn't 6mm be equally endowed. At least half to full width of a battalion line. They appear to have influence out of proportion to their size.

And where were the Russian guns?
cheers

Thanks for your comment SHaT1984. The Polemos Napoleonic rules these figures were based for just use single model gun batteries and I went with that. This set (Polemos Ruse de Guerre) also uses single-gun batteries, but it does encourage the use of full limbers to give more artillery 'mass', if not by number of tubes. That said, each single-gun battery does have half the width of a battalion base, meeting that criterion.

There was a Russian battery with each division-equivalent. Bagration's battery was just over the river, next to a stream:

Forster's battery was at the edge of his position, firing on the flank of the French advance in the centre:

The final Russian battery was with Schveikovsky (in reserve initially), here it is deployed in the Russian second line:

Hello Whirlwind!

Another fabulous game and like Gazzola says love the aerial and zoom ins!

Hello SHaT1984!

I think the vast majority of players in all scales only use one gun model for a battery, especially in 25mm. Your use of 2-3 must look fabulous. But as you know most gamers are a thrifty lot and won't buy more then one. They also generally won't shell out for limbers or caissons.

Because the Polemos rules are designed for battles of all sizes, but lean towards the biggest battles the basic design is to be economical with the figures. Once the figures and rules are yours you can do whatever you want. So some people do in fact use more than one gun model for a battery and some also include limbers and caissons. A fully kitted out 6mm battery can look stunning. Something you rarely see in any other scale.

In my collection I did for many years have 3 gun batteries so that they could be used as sections. That rarely happened as we mainly only play big battles. As my collection grew it simply became a matter of economics and painting time. So I converted to the convention of one gun batteries but retained limbers for all of them. So still showing some more metal than most of my big brother scales.

Best regards,

Glenn
