Hello everyone,

After some research on the 72e Ligne in 1809, I stumbled upon the 72e Ligne (ex 84e Ligne) controles de troupes showing the history of the organization of the regiment in 1815. For fans of the 1815 campaign, we are shown details of where each battalion of the regiment fought and even their actions during the Battle of Waterloo.

Another from the 72e Ligne showing details on battles and combats fought.

Next the formation of the 72e Demi-Brigade was taken from the XB files of the regiment.

Lastly, a slightly easier-to-read document that displays the combats of the regiment.

Not my era of interest but glad you're finding the material Mike, great stuff.
I must say it was quite a buzz to handle the original documents @Vincenne [SHAT] all those years ago, so I appreciate how rewarding it is to uncover these snippets of history.

Keep up the good work and stay safe over there; it truly astonishes me the complete ignorance of so called 'educated' people.
regards dave

Where did you come across this documents? Very interesting.

Dave,

They are amazing to view. I was offered to tag along on a trip in 2022 and hope to make it there and provide some more information here. Fascinating documents.

Old Contempible,

The first two come from this website link under controles des troupes ligne. The other documents are documents from the SHD for the XB files of the 72e Ligne. It is a lot of raw data that probably isn't super useful for wargamers, but my goal is to publish information on the Battle of Heilsberg and Battle of Thann where both the 3e and 72e Lign fought as well as the role of the 3e Corps in the early months of the 1809 campaign.
