I've got some 28mm Elves to paint, looking for fresh ideas on how to do the skintone. Might try a new technique.

You could go for a more tattoo / face paint look:

Do a basic flesh tone, then highlight cheeks, chin and nose in flashy blues and reds.

I put a final layer of very light skintone to get a pale finish, then leave the eyes all black. Makes them look different to humans and dwarves without mucking around too much.
